The Nazca Geoglyphs
Peru, Lima. 450 km south from the Peruvian capital there is a small town called Nazca.
And behind the "Pampa of Nazca" lies one of Earth's unsolved mysteries ...
If you fly over these vast plains of Nazca, you will discover that this apparently empty terrain is a huge drawing board.
Perfectly straight lines traverse several kilometers in all directions in enormous rectangles
and trapezoids.
There are also huge drawings depicting animals,
plants and other mysterious designs : there is a spider over 40 meters long, a monkey that is 90 meters big, a lizard of 180 meters (600 feet)
and many other gigantic art forms.
And if your hair hasn't curled yet you should know that these animal drawings are some of the smallest...
Some of the rectangles and trapezoids are over 800 meters long and the longest straight line measures about 9 kilometers!
Oh! I almost forgot to mention that there is an unique drawing which represents a man (also called owl-man) that is apparently waving (well...whether he is waving or not is not really relevant).
Last but not least, to know the complete story beind the Nazca geoglyphs you ought to know about the "Guardian Angel" of Peru's Nazca lines.
